Minimal production, perfect for a car trip. Recorded in a single session (one-take), using only classic guitar, u-bass, Akai mini keys and toys percussions. All recorded on Garageband with a single mic on iPad and without any engineering or postproduction work on the final sound. An urgent work, which reflects by choice all imperfections and mistakes of the recording method, in typical lo-fi style. Noises, background sounds, all these are contributing to Radar’s integrity, adding personality and a general suspended sense of temporariness. Country-indie esthetic, shorts improvisation’s frames, the sound is basically acoustic but sometimes little electronics figures appares in order to create a conflict of sounds which never find its natural solution. All tracks are based on very simple guitar chops of basic sound cells. Moving the chords basses, reaching spontaneous harmonizations, the tunes finds a own natural development even by remaining in a essential form. Radar’s sound remembers a soundtrack or a concept-album in a way, but in fact is none of them. A general design and/or theme is somehow hearable but it’s an undefined one, and Herbert apparently choose to keep the mystery of it. If there is one.
